Yes. Alquimedez Mental Health Counseling offers bilingual services in English and Spanish.
What happens after I submit the intake form?
After your intake form is submitted, our office will review your information and may contact you by phone, SMS, email, or WhatsApp to confirm details, request missing documents, verify insurance, and schedule your appointment.
How do I become a new patient?
To become a new patient, please complete our online intake or contact our office. Our team will review your information, confirm service availability, verify insurance when applicable, and help you schedule the appropriate appointment.
Insurance and Payment
Am I responsible for deductibles, copays, or coinsurance?
Yes. Patients are responsible for any deductible, copay, coinsurance, non-covered service, or balance determined by their insurance plan.
Do you accept private-paying patients?
Yes. Patients who do not have insurance, are out-of-network, or prefer not to use insurance may request private-pay/self-pay options.
How do I know if my insurance covers services?
Our office can help verify your benefits. Insurance verification does not guarantee payment, but it helps identify your estimated patient responsibility before services are provided.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We work with several insurance plans. Coverage depends on your specific plan, state, service type, deductible, copay, coinsurance, and authorization requirements.
Therapy
Can therapy be done by telehealth?
Yes. Therapy sessions are provided virtually through telehealth.
How often will I attend therapy?
Frequency depends on clinical needs, treatment goals, provider recommendation, and patient availability. Some patients attend weekly, while others may attend biweekly or as clinically appropriate.
What therapy services do you provide?
We provide individual therapy for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life adjustment issues, emotional regulation, relationship concerns, grief, and other behavioral health needs.
Medication Management
Can prescriptions be sent electronically?
When clinically appropriate, prescriptions may be sent electronically to the patient’s preferred pharmacy.
Do I need therapy if I receive medication management?
Some patients benefit from both therapy and medication management. Your provider may recommend therapy, medication management, or both depending on your clinical presentation.
What is medication management?
Medication management involves psychiatric assessment, review of symptoms, medication monitoring, discussion of side effects, treatment response, and follow-up care with a prescribing provider when clinically appropriate.
Psychiatry
Is psychiatry available by telehealth?
Yes. Psychiatry and medication management services are offered virtually when clinically appropriate and legally permitted.
What conditions may psychiatry help with?
Psychiatric services may support patients experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, ADHD-related concerns, sleep difficulties, and other behavioral health conditions.
Do you provide psychiatric evaluations?
Yes. Psychiatric evaluations may be available for patients who need assessment for mental health symptoms, diagnosis, and possible medication treatment.
Immigration Psychological Evaluations
Do I need an attorney before requesting an immigration evaluation?
An attorney is strongly recommended for immigration legal matters. The psychological evaluation is a clinical document and does not replace legal advice.
What documents are needed for an immigration evaluation?
Helpful documents may include identification, immigration-related notices, attorney referral information, personal declarations, police reports, medical records, prior therapy records, protection orders, or other supporting documents. The exact documents depend on the type of case.
What does an immigration evaluation include?
An immigration psychological evaluation may include a clinical interview, review of psychosocial history, trauma history, emotional symptoms, family impact, and preparation of a written report when clinically appropriate.
Do you provide immigration psychological evaluations?
Yes. We provide psychological evaluations for immigration-related matters, including cases involving VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa, political asylum, extreme hardship, and related immigration concerns.
Impaired Driving and SAP Assessments
What should I bring for an impaired driving or SAP assessment?
You may need identification, court documents, DMV or DOT-related letters, prior treatment records, toxicology reports, completion certificates, and any referral paperwork.
Do you provide Substance Abuse Professional assessments?
Yes. Substance Abuse Professional services may be available for individuals who require a SAP-related process.
Do you provide DUI, DWI, DWAI, or impaired driving assessments?
Yes. We provide impaired driving-related evaluations and assessments when appropriate, including services related to DUI, DWI, DWAI, and impaired driving offenses.
Telehealth Requirements
Can I attend telehealth from any state?
Telehealth availability depends on the state where the patient is physically located at the time of service and the provider’s licensure. Our office will confirm whether services can be provided based on your location.
Can I attend a telehealth appointment from my car or workplace?
You should attend from a private and safe location where confidentiality can be maintained. Your provider may determine whether the setting is appropriate for the appointment.
What do I need for a telehealth appointment?
You need a private location, reliable internet connection, a smartphone, tablet, or computer with camera and microphone, and access to the telehealth link provided by the office.
Records Needed
Why are records important?
Records help the provider understand your history, coordinate care, support diagnostic accuracy, and prepare appropriate documentation when needed.
How can I send records to the office?
Records may be submitted through secure office-approved methods, such as patient portal upload, fax, secure email, or other approved communication channels.
What records should I provide before my appointment?
Depending on the service, records may include prior mental health records, medication lists, hospital discharge summaries, school records, legal documents, immigration documents, medical records, insurance information, identification, or referral forms.
Communication by SMS and WhatsApp
Is SMS or WhatsApp private?
SMS and WhatsApp may have privacy limitations. Sensitive clinical information should be shared through secure, office-approved channels whenever possible.
Should I use SMS or WhatsApp for emergencies?
No. SMS and WhatsApp should not be used for emergencies, crisis situations, or urgent clinical concerns.
Can I communicate with the office by SMS or WhatsApp?
Yes. Our office may use SMS or WhatsApp for appointment coordination, reminders, document requests, and general administrative communication.

Cancellations and No-Shows
What happens if I miss my appointment?
If you miss an appointment, the office may contact you to reschedule. Repeated no-shows may affect scheduling availability or continuation of services.
Is there a cancellation or no-show fee?
Cancellation and no-show policies may vary depending on the service, insurance rules, and office policy. Patients should review the practice policy provided during intake.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Please contact the office as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Early notice helps us offer the appointment time to another patient.
Patient Portal Access
Can I complete intake paperwork through the portal?
Yes, when available. Completing paperwork before your appointment helps avoid delays.
What if I cannot access the portal?
Contact the office for assistance. Staff can help confirm your email, resend access instructions, or guide you through the next steps.
Do patients have access to a patient portal?
Yes. Patients may receive access to a patient portal for forms, documents, appointment information, and communication depending on the system being used.
